چکیده
The emergence of drug-resistant Tuberculosis has become a global health problem. Herbal drugs promise other potential options for treatment. This study aimed to investigate the anti-mycobacterial activity three plants: Piper longum, Cressa cretica and Calotropis gigantea. methanolic extract these plants was tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv using BACTEC MGIT-960 Automated system, minimum inhibitory concentration determined. extracts exhibited with longum inhibiting at 125 μg/ml gigantea 250 μg/ml. However, standard isoniazid rifampicin showed higher concentrations 0.05 μg/mL 0.12 μg/mL, respectively, compared crude plant extracts. highlights anti-tuberculous as agents. Nevertheless, further purification, molecular characterization in vivo testing are necessary evaluate their efficacy novel anti-TB

Multicenter evaluation of fully automated BACTEC Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube 960 system for susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
The reliability of the BACTEC Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) 960 system for testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis susceptibility to the three front-line drugs (isoniazid [INH], rifampin [RIF], and ethambutol [EMB]) plus streptomycin (STR) was compared to that of the BACTEC 460 TB system. The proportion method was used to resolve discrepant results by an independent arbiter. One hundr...

The reliability of the BACTEC MGIT 960 system, an automated version of the Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT), for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis was evaluated on 78 clinical isolates. Rifampin (RMP), isoniazid (INH), streptomycin (SM), and ethambutol (EMB) were tested at the following concentrations: 1.0 microg/ml for RMP, 0.1 and 0.4 microg/ml for IN...
متن کامل[Evaluation of combination of BACTEC mycobacteria growth indicator tube 960 system and Ogawa media for mycobacterial culture].
BACKGROUND The combined use of liquid media and solid media is recommended for mycobacterial culture. We evaluated diagnostic performance of combination of BACTEC Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT; Becton Dickinson, USA) and 2% Ogawa media (Korean Institute of Tuberculosis, Korea) for recovery of mycobacteria. METHODS In September 2007, 1,764 specimens from 1,059 patients were cultured...
متن کاملPrevalence ofMultidrug Resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis by Mycobacteria growth indicator tube in Golestan province, North of Iran
Abstract Background and objectives: Identification and monitoring of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains (MDR) is highlighted by the high risk of their spreading in different areas. Prevalence of these strains was evaluated in Golestan province in northeast of Iran. Material and Methods: Drug susceptibility testing to Isoniazid and rifampin was carried out for 148 clinical sa...
متن کاملMycobacterial growth and bacterial contamination in the mycobacteria growth indicator tube and BACTEC 460 culture systems.
The BACTEC 460 system currently provides the most rapid detection of mycobacterial growth, but the system is radiometric and requires needles to inoculate specimens through the bottle's septum. The Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) system has a liquid medium, like the BACTEC system, and does not require needles when inoculating specimens. We compared mycobacterial growth from 510 specim...
